Case[]
Details: At around 8am on April 19, 1990, the partially nude body of a woman was found behind the Pilot Oil Station, a truck stop next to Interstate 70 in Licking County, Ohio. She had been beaten to death. All of her jewelry and some articles of clothing were missing. Despite an extensive investigation by county sheriffs, the victim was never identified. Examination indicated she had possibly been a prostitute.
The woman was described as being between twenty-five and forty years of age. She was 5'2" and weighed 110 pounds. She had a small white mole on the right side of the bridge of her nose and a small brown mole on her right cheek. She had brown eyes and reddish brown hair. She had given birth to at least one child.
Suspects: The prime suspect in the woman's murder is an unidentified serial killer known as the Ohio Prostitute Killer. He was possibly a trucker who went by "Dr. No" over a CB radio. He may have preyed on prostitutes in Ohio, between the years of 1981 and 1990.
Male DNA was found on the woman's underwear that is believed to have belonged to her killer.
Extra Notes: The case was featured as a part of the February 19, 1992 episode. Also featured were Buckskin Girl and 1987 Jane Doe.
Results: Unresolved. In August 2017, the victim was identified as twenty-nine-year-old veteran Patrice Anita Corley. She had vanished on December 4, 1989 from Louisville, Kentucky, and left behind a young son. Her sister-in-law attempted to report her missing at the time, but was told that she was not allowed to do so because she was not a blood relative. She tried again in October 2016; this time, the report was accepted and Patrice was identified through DNA testing as a result. In August 2021, a headstone with her name was placed at her grave.
As a result of Patrice's identification, her murder case was reopened. In February 2019, Samuel Legg was arrested and charged with the murder of Sharon Lynn Kedzierski, a suspected victim of the Ohio Prostitute Killer. However, a Licking County prosecutor stated that he is not certain if Legg is responsible for Patrice's murder. Her killer has yet to be identified.
