Details: In 1958, while Carol Parrish was giving birth to her sixth child, doctors gave her two shots of Sodium Pentothal to ease the pain. However, she had an allergic reaction to the drug; her lungs collapsed and she was near death. Carol then felt that she wasn't there, and that she was looking down on herself as she gave birth. Carol felt that she was in a tunnel of light, which she believes was a near-death experience.
Amazingly, Carol survived, but she claimed that when she woke up, her body had been taken over by a different soul, and that "Young Carol" went off with others, which are called "Walk-ins," This apparently occurs when people have near-death experiences and their souls are traded. Everything about Carol changed; for example, she began having out-of-body experiences. One day, while she was nursing her child, she looked over and saw herself standing in the doorway. Her husband and doctor thought she was going crazy.
Carol's new identity made several changes in her life. She went to school to study bookkeeping. She got a job and eventually became a manager at a local bank. She believes that her new identity threatened her husband, who left her in 1967. In 1965, she began to study metaphysical religion. She later became a minister at the Light of Christ Community Church.
Another case of "Walk-ins" is about a high school principal named "Shari". While she was visiting a friend in Wyoming, she felt uneasy. She asked her friend, a metaphysical healer, to lay her hands on her. Suddenly, the room began to change. A golden, pulsating energy went into her spine. Strange lights and colors appeared and she floated in the air. After the experience, Shari realized that she had taken a new identity, and she even changed her name to "Juelle."
However, every day tasks became extremely difficult for Juelle. When she went shopping at a supermarket, she was adversely affected by strange energy fields. Eventually, Juelle's husband and children were able to adapt to it and now the family is much closer. Juelle now is dedicated to work with other "walk-ins." Many "walk-ins" believe that the new souls help change them for the better, and that is all that matters to them.
