Details: Forty-eight-year-old Deroy King, Jr of Lexington, North Carolina, is a convicted felon and is wanted for a series of bank robberies. He allegedly held up the same bank twice in Simpsonville, South Carolina. The first robbery took place on December 7, 1989, and the second one on March 1, 1990. He entered the bank during both robberies, brandished a.45-caliber semi-automatic pistol, produced a duffel bag, and demanded money. After obtaining the money, he locked the employees in a closet and fled.
During the second robbery, when King ordered the employees to go into the closet, he said, “Get in the closet just like last time, but this time, you better stay in there for five minutes, or I’ll blow your heads off.” As he fled, responding officers managed to approach his pickup truck in an attempt to block his escape. However, he was able to elude capture by firing his weapon in their direction. Fortunately, no one was injured.
King should be considered armed and dangerous. He is 5'9", weighs 180 pounds, has brown hair, and blue eyes. He has a scar on his chest and a scar on his abdomen. He was born on either May 14 or May 30, 1945. He has ties to Greensboro, Charlotte, Lexington, Winston-Salem, and Arcadia, North Carolina. He may seek treatment at Veteran Administration hospitals.
