Case: Lost Sister
Location: Norfolk, Virginia
Date: June 27, 1941

Case[]

Details: Ellie Taylor is the twin sister of Nellie Sample McCutcheon. The twins also have four other sisters: Elvia, Diane, Marjorie, and Nancy. When their mother, Elizabeth, died in 1924, the six sisters were sent to an orphanage in Berea, Kentucky. They all grew up in Berea and attended school there. Nellie later married and moved to Pennsylvania.
Ellie and her four other sisters moved into an apartment in Norfolk, Virginia. On June 27, 1941, when she was twenty-four, she married a traveling salesman named Alan Davis Richland of New York City. Her sisters did not approve of the marriage, so she and Alan left Norfolk. The last communication from the couple was a postcard sent from Maryland in 1942. They were last known to be living in Atlanta, Georgia.
Now, fifty years later, Nellie wants to be reunited with Ellie. Nellie’s daughter, Patricia, is helping her with the search. They have placed advertisements in various newspapers, made numerous telephone calls, and attempted to trace Ellie through her social security number. However, they have been unable to find her. She was born on May 7, 1917.
