Upon seeing the object, he maintained radio contact with his airfield for several minutes, describing the object as it darted and swerved around him. Moments after he reported the sighting by radio, Frederick inexplicably vanished, his plane possibly going down in the strait. A series of photographs of the shoreline nearby show a strange blot resembling an explosion in the air.
