History: On March 11, 2011, a 9.0 magnitude earthquake struck Japan. The earthquake triggered several powerful tsunami waves which struck several cities throughout Japan. The earthquake and tsunami caused over $360 billion in damage and killed over 15,000 people. One of the municipalities that was among the most severely affected was Ishinomaki. Nearly half of the city was inundated by the tsunami.
Since the disaster, many residents of Ishinomaki have reported strange and unexplained phenomena. Several taxi drivers have reported experiences with "ghost passengers" following the disaster. In each case, a passenger would enter their cab and then disappear by the time they reached their destination.
