Details: Sixty-eight-year-old John William Farr is wanted for robbing five banks in the New Orleans, Louisiana area during the early 1980s. During his robberies, he sometimes wears a ski mask or a false mustache and wig. He is usually armed with a handgun. According to the FBI, he is lured more by the challenge of bank robbery than by the money.
Farr has previous convictions for bank robbery, larceny of an automobile, theft, burglary, and escape. In 1955, he pleaded guilty to robbing two banks in Missouri and received a twenty-five-year sentence. In those robberies, his wife, Mary Dowell, and a friend, Charles Posey, were accomplices.
Farr has used at least twenty-five aliases. He is 5'8" tall and weighs 150 pounds. He has gray hair and blue eyes. He has two scars on his left arm. He has a woman’s head tattooed on his right forearm. He wears prescription lenses. He is a heavy smoker and may have emphysema. He was born on April 16, 1920, in Detroit, Michigan. He has worked as a drywall contractor, movie projectionist, painter, printing press operator, pilot, and roofer.

Results: Wanted. As of a 1993 article, Farr was still at large. Due to the passage of time, he is now believed to be deceased.
