Details: On Friday, December 1, 1991, forty-two-year-old Kathleen Burghardt received a sonogram on her right breast. It confirmed that there was a large lump in there; the doctors told her that she probably had breast cancer. She was directed to come back on Monday for a biopsy and possible mastectomy. She was very frightened because two of her friends had died of breast cancer. During the weekend, she began praying, fasting, and meditating, hoping for a miracle. While praying, she felt very peaceful and calm. Her anxiety and fear also went away. On Monday, when she returned, the lump was completely gone. Her doctor was shocked at what had occurred. She has been healthy ever since. She continues to meditate, pray, and receive regular breast exams. She now believes that the power of prayer helped save her life.
