Case[edit | edit source]
Description: In 1970, thirteen-year-old Laura Lea Burbank met twenty-nine-year-old David Harry Fisher at the Tacoma pet store where he worked. A few weeks after meeting Fisher, on June 30, Laura left her home to go to the park. Originally, she was supposed to go with her sister and a friend, but both were unable to go, so she went alone. She was never seen again. A few months later, she was found sexually assaulted and murdered in Olympia.
Fisher became the prime suspect because of his connection to Laura. His wife contacted the police after she found a pair of girl's underwear in their home. Fisher was later arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He pleaded guilty to manslaughter and was sentenced to twenty years in prison.
In September of 1974, Fisher walked out of a Washington medium-secured prison and has not been seen since. Suspects: David Harry Fisher
Extra Notes: This case aired as part of the December 6, 1989 episode.
Results: Solved. After fifteen years on the run, David Fisher was captured in Edmonton, Canada and was extradited back to the United States to continue his sentence. He was going by the alias of Mike Ray Porter and worked as a door to door salesman.
