Details: The Marten Lake John Doe is the name used to refer to the set of remains that were located in Marten Lake, Ontario, approximately 40 km north of North Bay. The discovery was made on the afternoon of September 11th, 2008. The remains were facing shore with the front side down, and contained the lower torso from the knees up to the lower rib cage; exposed ribs and spine were clearly visible. The pelvis area and legs were covered with plaid brown cotton pants and in one pocket was a small pocket knife inside of a leather or vinyl case. A black high-top sneaker that was in decent shape was also recovered among the victim's remains.
It is estimated that the victim was about 20-40 years of age at the time of his death, and the victim's height was 5'4" - 5'8", which was also an approximation. Information as to the weight and distinguishing features is unavailable due to the decomposition and lack of skull and other body parts. The victim was thought to have been in the water undiscovered from anywhere between 5-40 years post-mortem.
