Description: Cortez is municipality and county seat of Montezuma County, Colorado. The city population was 8,482 at the 2010 census. In 1886, the town was built to provide housing for the men working on the tunnels and irrigation ditches required to divert water out of the Dolores River and into Montezuma Valley. The town was named for Spanish conquistador Hernando Cortez.

Case

History: One day a ranch couple living in Cortez, Colorado were horseback riding on their land near the Arizona border when they found the carcass of a strange creature. The couple believed that it was a miniature dinosaur that was about one foot long in size. They took a picture of it and then sent it to an academic institute so it could be studied, but the school lost the carcass. Several scientists hope that the strange creature can be located so it can be studied.
Background: Reports are that several people in the Cortez, Colorado have seen a creature similar to the carcass all the way back to the 1930s.
