Real Name: Richard Allen Bright
Aliases: Allen Barker
Wanted For: Rape, Kidnapping, Assault
Missing Since: October 8, 1995
Details: Rickey Allen Bright is a convicted kidnapper, diagnosed sociopath, and a dangerous fugitive. In January of 1995, he was paroled from prison after serving fifteen years for the kidnap and attempted rape of a seven-year-old girl in Gastonia, North Carolina. Eight months later, Bright committed an almost identical crime in Wilkes County, North Carolina. At around 3AM on October 8, 1995, Bright entered his neighbor's trailer and abducted a nine-year-old girl. He drove the child to a wooded area in West Virgina and then beat and raped her.
Afterwards, Bright drove around for several hours with the girl before she was able to convince him to let her go, which he did about a mile from her home. Her mother located her at around 2PM and she told the police about what happened. Bright vanished and was last seen on November 4, 1995, at the Parkside Male residential Motel in Akron, Ohio. He is considered armed and dangerous and has since been added to the FBI's Ten Most Wanted list.
Extra Notes: This case first aired as a Special Bulletin on the December 15, 1995 episode of Unsolved Mysteries. It has also been shown on America’s Most Wanted.
Results: Captured. Thanks to a tip from an AMW viewer, Bright was arrested by FBI agents on January 7, 1996 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was convicted of rape and kidnapping charges. He was sentenced to life in prison.
