Real Name: Robert Earl Cains
Aliases: Ratman
Wanted For: Robbery, Abduction, Murder
Missing Since: February 1995

Case[]

Details: Twenty-three-year-old Ronald Cains was part of a notorious South Central Los Angeles street gang known as the Athens Park Bloods. On February 21, 1995, he and five other armed men abducted and assaulted Robert Davis in an attempt to get money from him. They took him to his ex-girlfriend Sonja's apartment in Lancaster, California, believing that she had more money. When she was unable to get them more money, they abducted Robert and Sonja's seven-month-old daughter Jainah Alexis Spencer at gunpoint as "collateral".
The robbers then took Robert and Jainah to his mother's home, hoping to get more money there. A relative was able to slip away and call the police. When officers arrived, four of the assailants took Jainah and drove away. Rather than turning themselves over to the police, they engaged in a police chase that ended in a fiery car crash outside of Lancaster. The men escaped the scene relatively unharmed. Police found Jainah unconscious in the car. Tragically, she later died from her injuries.
Three conspirators, thirty-year-old Marcel Cloud, twenty-four-year-old Kenyon Pitts, and thirty-year-old Herman St. Amie, were soon arrested. However, Cains and twenty-four-year-old Cephus Sudduth went on the run. In July of 1995, Sudduth was arrested, but Cains is still at large. He has been charged with murder along with three counts of robbery and is considered armed and extremely dangerous.
Extra Notes: This case first aired as a Special Alert on the October 27, 1995 episode of Unsolved Mysteries.
Results: Captured. In December of 1995, Cains was arrested in Memphis, Tennessee. He confessed to the charges after his arrest. He and the four other co-conspirators were found guilty of abduction and murder and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The last conspirator, Wadrick Bouligny, pled guilty and was given a lighter sentence and agreed to testify against the others.
