I am a Police Chief in a neighboring town to where this happened. When I was in "Rookie School," one of the instructors was a officer that worked on this case. He said two detectives went to New Orleans to show pictures and evidence to a woman that was in the Voodoo business and had helped Law Enforcement in the past by identifying crime scene evidence in these type cases. The instructor told our class that she looked at the photos for a few seconds, gave them back, and told them to leave and not come back. He said she refused to take the money they offered. The instructor said there were "non-factual occurrences" that officers involved in the case did not put in the report because their peers would think they were crazy.
