Details: Tracy Jo Shine was murdered by Michael Neal because he was worried that she had become a police informant for his illegal drug activity and a drive-by shooting. Police sources report she had agreed to testify against him in court over a drive-by shooting in exchange for reduced charges for her drug arrest. It is believed he dismembered her body and stored the parts in a refrigerator for several months before he and his brother purchased muriatic acid and disposed of them. While Neal was incarcerated for a separate crime, evidence found in the refrigerator was linked to Tracy Jo through mitochondrial DNA. He was given a life sentence for the crime. Her family would really prefer to give Tracy the burial she deserves, but Neal refused to identify the location of her body. He later died in prison.
Suspects: Michael Neal
Extra Notes: This case was not featured on Unsolved Mysteries, but yet, some websites refer to it as an UM case. It was documented on Forensic Files and The New Detectives.
Results: Unresolved. Shine's remains have yet to be located. Unfortunately, Michael Neal has since died in prison without revealing where he put her remains. Tracy's mother, Virginia has passed in March 2018.
